The InPro project consisted of 18 partners from 7 European countries. These partners performed the research and technical developement work of the project, which lasted for 51 months, 4 years and 3 months. During the project's life time, a cluster of organisations from the industry and research community was set up. These organisations received information about the project's work and results. Some of them were also involved in the project's work and/or in the report review process.

The project was led by five large European construction contractors in close cooperation with other stakeholders of the construction and IT industries, plus renowned research organisations and specialised consultants.

About HOCHTIEF: HOCHTIEF is one of the leading international providers of construction-related services. Starting from the developing stage and proceeding to planning and finally operating stages HOCHTIEF renders services for all phases throughout the life cycle of buildings and civil structures. The subsidiary HOCHTIEF ViCon is a competence centre dedicated to strengthen the use of Building Information Modeling (BIM) by providing professional consultancy services, which accompany business during the process of conducting project- or company-related implementation of Building Information Modeling.
HOCHTIEF in InPro: Within InPro HOCHTIEF was within the core group of five major construction companies leading this research project. In addition HOCHTIEF was involved in most of the subtasks and developed two key processes in detail: a) model based construction scheduling and b) model based prediction of maintenance costs for facility management.
Services and training provided: HOCHTIEF ViCon offers BIM consultancy services both within the HOCHTIEF group as well as externally. Through the BIM implementation multiple benefits arise. Not only are risks and costs of the construction management process reduced but also communication and collaboration between all project stakeholders are significantly improved.
HOCHTIEF ViCon considers training as a key success factor of BIM implementation. Therefore training is offered in a modular system, tailored to the requirements of an individual project, as well as to individual personnel, depending on their previous experience. Courses can be provided both on and off site. HOCHTIEF ViCon offers the BIM training and certification for the project teams independently from other ViCon services, which enables a high flexibility for the tailored BIM approach.

Eurostep

Eurostep is a software and services company with unique skills in delivering solutions for product data exchange and sharing in the engineering design and supply chains. Eurostep base the software and services on information standards such as STEP (ISO10303 including PLCS, AP233), IFC and Web Services (SOA).
Eurostep developed and demonstrated the BIM Collaboration Hub concept for the Open Integrated Environment of InPro. Share-A-space is the base for the BIM Collaboration Hub, and has been a well proven commercial product for manufacturing and defence industries for more than 5 years. IFC import and export with versioning and consolidation with a Through Life Support is fundamental for the BIM Collaboration Hub, managing the models and documents on object level.
Eurostep has invested a lot in developing IFC and other standards such as STEP and PLCS. InPro has proven that the new ways of working, exemplified by the 7 selected key processes, are feasible and supported by efficient information sharing. Eurostep is now marketing the BIM Collaboration Hub, and services linked to it, and will take the InPro results into the daily business in the construction industry.
