Analysis of existing software tools for early design

This is a study of today used software tools by the InPro industry partners based on a detailed analysis of interviews of end-users answering some very fundamental questions in the context of the current way of ICT related working during the very early stages of building projects. The overall conclusion is: there is a need for collaboration tools for several phases in a project and for collaboration with external partners. Versioning and the management of design alternatives, stepwise estimation and standardisation to ease the data exchange have to be taken into account. The today available software tools and methods do not match all of the end-users perspectives. The InPro developments should meet the end-users’ requirements as much as possible and adapt their way of working.
